Repentance Requires Reformation

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;” Acts 3:19. “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” Proverbs 28:13. “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55:7. Genuine repentance is not just an acknowledgment that we’ve done something wrong but is accompanied by an earnest heartfelt desire to change our harmful habits and practices. When repentance is not followed by reformation urgent self-examination is desperately needed to test our authenticity. Repentance is our apology to God for doing something that we understand is harmful to us and also is basically bad. At the heart of all sin is I which is the exaltation of self in all its hideous forms. Dethrone the devil that’s controlling your life through righteous repentance and reformation and you’ll be ready to receive restoration. Pray, “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24
