The “I” Issue and our Christian Experience

“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” Matthew 24:12. Iniquity has 3 “I’s” and 1 “U” when we point the finger at u there are 3 fingers pointing back at “I”. This lesson should teach us that “I” has always been and will always be at the very center of sin, pride, and iniquity. “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8.

What was the devil’s sin or iniquity? “For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” Isaiah 14:13-14. “I” is the problem and we need to remove our eyes from “I” and focus upon Christ and Him crucified. Not “I” but Christ first and foremost in everything we do, say and think that the monster “I” may be trampled in the dust. It’s only when we’re truly dead to “I” that we can truly be alive for Christ fulfilling His great commission. “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20.

Sin forever remains a mystery. Explaining its origin is like justifying its existence. Let us live a life where we value our brothers and sister, purposing that they may obtain eternal salvation. Finally, Not I but Christ be seen and exalted in this post. Have a good day my reader.
